My husband and I are looking to buy our own home. I am very interested in modular homes (there are lots of nice ones that I have looked at). We threw around the idea of buying land and putting in our own, but there are so many hidden costs, like drilling a well, hooking up electricity, plumbing, water….all of that stuff. So then I thought about buying a mobile home that recently come up for sale in our area, tearing it down, and replacing it with a nice modular. What kind of hidden costs would we get into there? Does anybody have any idea what it would cost?

    Create a video blog…instantly.

If the mobile home is in good condition, call your local modular home dealer and see what they will give you on a trade in.. my local dealer let me trade mine in, came and got it and since I bought from them, they installed and set up my new modular home for free!!! Don’t tear down the trailer, trade it in or sell it cheap and make the buyer pay to move it. Then, you can buy what you want for that piece of land.

If this is something you can’t resale you can:
    1. burn it down or chainsaw it up and take it to the dump in small sections
    2. put it in the paper as”free for taking” some people want them for storage, animal shelters, the frame from them can be made into a tow trailer
    3. fix it up and rent it out
